Herbert Lawrence Franklin

1925 — 2017

Herbert Lawrence Franklin, age 92, formerly of Camargo, KY, died on Monday, June 19, 2017, at this residence in Hermitage, TN.

He was born in Lawrence County, Kentucky to the late Herbert Lee and Augusta Walker Franklin. He is preceded in death by one brother, Fred Franklin and two sisters, Shirley Franklin (William) Hardin and Gladys Franklin Moore (Jay) Pennington.

Mr. Franklin is survived by his beloved wife of seventy years, Geneva Borders Franklin, one daughter, Linda (Craig) Mosher, two sons, Ken (Peggy) Franklin and Paul (Cindy) Franklin, grandchildren Monica (Brian) Thompson, Megan (Brian) Gesell, Quinn Franklin, Matthew Franklin, Carrie (Cameron) Tharp, and Sean Franklin, three great-grandchildren, Andrew Thompson, Tyler Thompson and Celia Gesell, sister-in-law Ada Chapman Franklin and several nieces and nephews.

Herb served his country as a United States Marine during World War II in the South Pacific, where he made lifelong friends. He was an employee of Columbia Gulf Transmission Company and an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing his vegetables with his family and friends. Herb had faith in Jesus and was devoted to his wife and family who sadly miss him.

Visitation will be at noon on Saturday, June 24, at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa with the funeral immediately following at 1:00. Pastor Chuck Price of First Baptist Church of Louisa will officiate. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery Louisa, Kentucky.

Care has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home.
