GREAT CROWD TURNS OUT FOR 2017 SEPTEMBERFEST; KELSIE WOWS ‘EM

September in Lawrence County means two things, homecoming and Septemberfest. No matter what the reason, the entire town gathers first at the Homecoming football game at LCHS and they make their way into town for some Rotary Hash or a funnel cake. The entire weekend is spent meeting up at your class reunion and walking main street for the best food on earth.

Louisa Rotary president Chris Jobe said this morning that with the beautiful weather and a huge crowd his group sold completely out of their famous “Bahama Mamas” and Rotary Hash. “We sold over 1,200 Bahama Mamas, and all the hash,” Jobe said.

You've come a long way baby! Kelsie May performed at Septemberfest four years ago as a young artist just getting started. Now she is a seasoned young performer who drew a crowd estimated at 2,000 at Saturday night's show. "From checking out of Science Class and performing to tracks to having my own band and dancing like no one's watching. 4 years makes a difference" --Kelsie May

This year Lawrence County’s own Kelsie May was the main attraction taking the stage on Saturday night. As always, Septemberfest was a huge success as thousands gathered to celebrate the occasion together.

“Septemberfest 2017 was a special year. The weather cooperated the entire weekend and assured festival goers a comfortable and fun filled festival,” Louisa Mayor Harold Slone said. “I am so proud of our community for the participation in the festival. The committee, the businesses, and vendors all make this possible. Entertainment and a fireworks celebration made this 30th year one to remember.”

Tate Stevens, took the stage after our very own Kelsie May. He's a country music star who became famous when he won the 2nd season of the X Factor in 2012.

Barney Fiffe made a guest appearance at this year's Septemberfest, shown here with Lynette See Miller and Elaine See. To see Lazer slide/video click on the picture
