Gov. Beshear with Republican Lawrence Co. Judge Phillip Carter today at the meeting.

The Governor  stated that he is excited to submit a budget that for the first time in 14 years, there will be no new additional cuts. He stated we will be moving forward instead of backwards for Kentucky. “Our budget is an ‘Education First Budget’,” he said, which starts with supporting our teachers and giving them a raise. It will give 40.00 extra for every student in school.”

Governor Beshear will focus on better wages and more jobs for Eastern Kentucky, better Healthcare and to ensure every child in Kentucky has healthcare ( $200 million in the budget), better Education, also a brand new school bus for each district, and fixing Retirement Pensions.

He also said that all Coal Severance monies(18 million) will be coming back to the coal producing counties for the first time.

Senior Advisor Rocky Adkins thanked everyone as well. He said he was proud to be an Eastern Kentuckian and will work diligently along with Governor Beshear. “Healthcare is an important issue for me, as a 25 year cancer survivor and I will do all I can to ensure everyone has the proper Healthcare,” Adkins said. “We will be working together to try to rebuild the economy, and to bring hope and support for the Eastern Kentucky communities!”

$50,000 for new playground, splash park

But the big announcement for this day was $50,000 for a new ADA playground for Lawrence County Park.

Currently, there are no ADA accessible playgrounds in Lawrence County or the surrounding areas. To remedy this problem, Gov. Beshear announced a $50,000 Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant to Lawrence County Fiscal Court to add an accessible playground and splash park in Lawrence County Park.

“The splash pad and new playground equipment will be a great asset not only to our park but also to the entire community,” said Judge Executive Phillip Carter. “The playground equipment will be handicap accessible including a swing made for wheelchair accessibility. We feel that every child including those with physical handicaps deserve to have a place where they can enjoy outdoor activities.”

“This splash park and playground will be a great asset to our community and a wonderful place for families looking for a warm-weather activity,” said Rep. Kathy Hinkle of Louisa. “I want to thank Gov. Beshear and our fiscal court for working together to make this possible, and I look forward to the day when all of this is built and ready for use.”

“This is great news for Lawrence County,” said Sen. Phillip Wheeler of Pikeville. “This project will have a noticeable impact on the lives of children in our community and I look forward to its completion.”

Bevin was held a fundraiser by republicans in Lawrence county and gave the county money weeks before his defeat last fall heard nothing but praise from Charley
NOW Andy gives Lawrence County a grant almost 4 years before his next election and you accuse him of trying to buy Lawrence County
what’s wrong with this picture Charley can’t have it both ways

Where was your sheriff and county attorney at? Guess they aren’t about supporting the community. Or they were worried about hurting their political career by being seen with the Governor. Disappointing!!!

    • Charles says:

I would be far more disappointed to be seen with governor long neck!

The county doesn’t have a river KAG, (not the part that goes past Louisa). Why don’t you go to the river?

  8. Carl Parks says:

Thank you Governor Beshear and Representative Hinkle for helping Lawrence County. Some of us appreciate it even if those like Charles have their heads up tRumpk’s a** to far to recognize a good thing when they see it.

    • KAG says:

you tell them Carl Charley and the other Republicans don’t appreciate anything they got beat last fall time to move on

    • Charles says:

You sir are an idiot. Tell me how dimocraps helped you when you lost a strong coal industry and most of a power plant? Then explain where all the jobs were under Obama? Why is a Communist leading the demoncrat ticket right now? Then when your filthy party gives the nomination to “Blommerburg”, Can you seriously support the next Hitler as your candidate? Or the next Stalin (Bernie)? You are a traitor to America and all it was founded on! You see this booming economy, and are stupid enough to think Obama had anything to do with it? You make me sick!

    • Charles says:

If you can Carl show me one damn thing Kathy Hinkle has done for anyone, other than herself? Put a valid link with it too!

      • KAG says:

here you go DA this is very important to coal miners with black lung

      • Carl says:

Well one think she did was get a $50,000 for new playground, splash park for Lawrence Co and the valid link is the one you’re reading. Before rambling on about topics you obviously have no clue about, do some research. The majority of coal jobs lost were actually under Bush 2, the power plants future was planned prior to 1996 as the result of a lawsuit filed by a Republican governor in the northeast..
Anybody supporting a habitual lying, sexual predator has no right to criticize anyone, if anybody’s a traitor to America it’s Trump, McConnell and the hypi-christian republtards who support them.

        • KAG says:

you tell them Carl the right wingers who say they support capitalism and when the power plants showed them what capitalism is they blame Obama go figure
Trump has been in office for over three years now the coal industry is gone

        • Charles says:

The link you speak about Carl is you’re mind, that is a very weak link! You just lied in everything you said about coal jobs and the power plant. I know who destroyed both and his name was Obama and he was a disaster! If you don’t like “Trump, McConnell and the hypi-christian republtards”, you will be very sad the day after the November election! (The word is hyper, not hypi). 🙂

“Amend KRS 342.315 to eliminate the requirement that physicians contracting with the commissioner of the Department of Workers’ Claims to perform evaluations in occupational disease claims be “B” readers who are licensed in Kentucky and are board-certified pulmonary specialists; amend KRS 342.316 to allow the commissioner to select a physician or medical facility for referral in occupational disease claims and eliminate the requirement that such physicians be “B” readers who are licensed in Kentucky and are board-certified pulmonary specialists; amend KRS 342.794 to delete the definition of “board-certified pulmonary specialist” and eliminate the requirement that physicians on the list of qualified “B” readers maintained by the commissioner include only those licensed in Kentucky and board-certified pulmonary specialists”.( from the link)
Are you serious? An all democrat bill designed to fraud, will never get out of committee, will never be voted on to get to Governor Longneck. Is this what Kathy Hinkle is doing for people? ARE YOU SERIOUS!

And Carl’s splash park, WOW. You both just proved what is clear, Carl and KAG are not very bright! And Carl is a traitor.

    • KAG says:

Charley you need to read this
      https://www.nhpr.org/post/kentucky-lawmakers-limit-black-lung-claims-reviews-despite-epidemic#stream/0

This is what kind of laws gets passed when all these people buying Friends of Coal Junk

      • Charles says:

No, I don’t need anymore of liberal links KAG, you lied when you said the last one was about ‘black lung’ it wasn’t. I posted the text of the link and proved that point. All liberals do is lie, because the truth is to inconvenient! Tell me all about it the day after the general election.

        • KAG says:

I don’t believe you understand what Bevin and the GOP did in 2018 or just don’t care more like the latter but anyways
before they passed there compensation bill coal miners would get a chest x ray and a b reader who is specially trained in reading x rays for Pneumoconiosis(black lung) could go to any state as long they kept up there training that’s how the federal law works today
Bevin and the GOP with the help of the KY coal association(coal operators) wrote a bill that said no more b readers but a pulmonologist who has to be in ky
guess what they are only 6 in ky that qualifies and 4 work for the coal companies and since the law passed there is now only 1 for the coal miners and there is a backlog that a lot of the miners are dying before they can get seen

          • Charles says:

KAG, if what you posted is true, its wrong, very wrong. Did you know George Soros bought majority ownership of both Peabody and Arch coal? For pennies on the dollar when Obama destroyed the coal industry. Those are the largest coal operators in America, wonder if he was involved.

          • KAG says:

George Soros is a capitalist out to make money what’s a wrong with that don’t believe it was majority ownership but he did buy some of there stock when it bottom out
and yes it’s true about the GOP black lung bill that Kathy Hinkle and even some republican lawmakers are trying to overturn
and no natural gas is what has destroyed the coal market it’s cheaper than coal

  10. Charles says:

A link for Carl and KAG!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgSPaXgAdzE&app=desktop

  11. Charles says:

This is the real chain of events KAG. Soros bought Obama (created him actually), Obama destroyed the coal industry, stock prices dropped to pennies on the dollar, Soros bought them, Soros gets richer by the second and is the most evil man on earth, and liberals worship him like a god. That’s a fact jack (or KAG as the case may be).

Now who will Soros buy next? I think he’s already chosen, Bloomerburg?

    I’m done here now KAG.

    • KAG says:

if what you say is true then why did all the major coal companies in 2011 and 2012 more than 3 and 4 years after Obama took office bought hundred’s of millions of coal reserves and other coal companies just about every one of them did maybe they should have hired you as a advisor
coal has been going down for years gas has ate there lunch
I am just glad you ignorant people wasn’t around when we switched from the horse to the automobile no doubt there was some of you people around that didn’t want the automobile
and you never answered about making money

  12. James P Allen says:
