LOUISA, KY. —  Jan. 31, 2019 — Walmart gives $1,050 to God’s Food Pantry to serve our local families and individuals in need. Each week, our local Walmart gives food to God’s Food Pantry to help so many in our community. In January, God’s Food Pantry received a check for $1,050 toward food purchases.

“We are grateful for all the help that Walmart gives. The staff there are so great and this will help us continue to provide food for families in our community,” said Pantry Volunteer Neil Wilson. “We are serving 500 to 600 families each month. Some families have as many as eight in their home — that’s a lot of people. Without help from our local companies, it would be hard to help everyone who comes.”

God’s Food Pantry is located behind Big Blue Auto in Louisa, where each Thursday doors open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Food boxes are provided once each month for households within Lawrence County who meet the income guidelines based on the total number people in the home. Photo ID is required at each visit.

“It is very rare that someone new who comes in does not meet the income guidelines. Families here are really in need,” said Bob Chapman, another Pantry Volunteer. “I like to welcome the children who come  with their families. It is nice to see them smile.”

God’s Food Pantry receives government commodities, some grants, donations of food from local groceries or food suppliers, donations from churches and individuals, and also local food drives.

On behalf of all those served by God’s Food Pantry, Thank you Walmart for this donation.

I go to church with Neil Wilson and Bob Chapman and I’m an associate at Walmart so I’m thankful to be part of both of those families
