Gary Mitchel Sparks, 68 of Louisa, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 in UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY following a brief illness.

He was born June 25, 1951 in Ashland, KY, a son of the late Fred Fitch and the late Nellie Sparks Fitch. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Hattie Fitch.

He was a retired mechanic for Equipment Depot in Hurricane WV and was also previously employed by Ashland Independent School System as a bus mechanic.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Kitty Ann Sparks of Louisa, KY. Also surviving are daughters, Charlotte (Andy) Ferrell of Huntington, WV, Sonya (Danny) Kreger of Raceland, KY and Susan Sullivan of Huntington, WV. 7 Grandchildren, Jalyne Caudill, Jesse Scarberry, Danielle Kreger, Kacey Kreger, Clayton Sullivan, Caleb Sullivan and Makayla (Rose) Sullivan. 4 great grandchildren, Abbi Abt, Alli Abt and twins Leah and Adeline Scarberry due in December 2019. Also surviving are his brother, Fred (Martin) Fitch (Renae), Sisters, Debbie Clark (Terry) and Nancy Coleman all of Ashland, KY. Also a host of of nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him greatly.

Gary was a loving husband, father and Pappaw. He cherished every moment that he spent with his family and especially the time spent together fishing.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 16th, at 1:00 PM at Preston Family Funeral Home by Gene McCall. 

Serving as pall bearers are Clayton Sullivan, Kacey Kreger, Danny Kreger, Ronnie Adams, Ronnie J Adams, Hunter King, Brandon (Smiley) Davis, Dakota Cordial and Andy Ferrell.

Visitation will be Friday, August 16th from 11:00 AM until service time.

Interment will be in the Adams Family Cemetery in Rush, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gary’s memory to the charity of choice.
