Fort Gay Mayor Joetta Hatfield was honored to have Rep. Carol Miller and three of her staff
Michael Chirico, Tom Moran, and Joe Fawkner for lunch at FG City Hall today.

They were also given a private tour of the Historical Lock House & River Locks, which was the first dam of this type to be built in the United States!

“I am always eager to bring our elected West Virginia officials & visitors to our beautiful lock area, in hopes of finding funding for our River Walk, WelcomeCenter/Museum & so many other things we would like to see happen there,” Mayor Hatfield said.  “It seems every visitor that I have given a private tour has left here in awe of the place. You have to experience in person the roar of the water, the visual beauty and historical aspect of this area to fully grasp & appreciate what we have in our little hometown!”

Tourism would be great, but a Grocery store would be even better. People in the Fort Gay area must drive to the other side of Wayne, or leave the state and go to Ky Just to purchase their food. Unless you try to survive on the few items the Dollar General has. Our Fort Gay Mayor has done a wonderful job of cleaning up the town. I just wish she would work on getting us our own grocery store. Perhaps an IGA or Big Bear. Just wishful thinking.

Couldn’t they just drive across the bridge and go to food city?

You didn’t mind people from Kentucky coming to Fort Gay to buy beer for 50+ years did you?

Mayor Hatfield and Michael Chirico are two folks who are always working hard for Fort Gay! I have enjoyed working with them both on other projects!
