RAIN CAN’T STOP MOUNTAIN HERITAGE DAY IN FT. GAY

Fort Gay Alumni Association float preparing for the Mountain Heritage Day parade to start

Rain could not stop the festivities at the Mountain Heritage Day in Fort Gay , Wv on Saturday September 2, though the turnout was not as it has been in past festivities because of bad weather. But several people braved the rain and cooler temperatures to enjoy a day full of community gathering and fun.

Kenova Fire Engine, a true display of patriotism during the parade

The day started at 10:30 am with the parade that had several Firetrucks from Fort Gay, Louisa, and Kenova, followed by the Tolsia High School JROTC, a few floats made by Fort Gay High School Alumni Association, and the town’s Area Womans Club, a couple of horses concluded the end of the parade.

Activities then directed to the front lawn of the oldHigh School where there was  Magician, Joey Stepp followed by live music by Rachel Messer and the Kings Seven. Vendors with good food and tables with homemade items for sale.  A Quilt show held in the Library, and a car show behind the Community Trust Bank.

The Days festivities ended at 7pm with the Fort Gay Area Womans Club hosting the annual FG high school alumni dinner at the Pre K-8 cafeteria.

Ashton Paige Church had her hands full but couldn't wait to sink her teeth into the BBQ so Sylvester Minney lends a hand.

The Rain did not dampen the community spirit to come out and listen to music, have some good food and visit with family and friends.
