Fort Gay, W.Va. Four Tolsia Rebels were named to the Class Single A All State teams that were announced recently with two each from the Boys and Girls programs.

#15 Senior Julie Boone who will be playing collegiately at West Virginia Tech this fall was named second team after averaging 10 points 10 rebounds and 2 blocks per contest and helped her team to a Region Runner Up this past season.

#23 Junior Jesse Muncy who surpassed the 1,000 point mark in a win over Spring Valley in the second game of the season averaged 19.0 per game and help lead the Rebels to a 10-5 season. Muncy ended up with 1,200 points and is in line to be the All time leading scorer in Tolsia Boys Basketball history.

#5 Senior Selena Browning made Honorable mention after averaging 12 points, 8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3 steals per game. Browning was a major contributor in her four years in the Tolsia program.

#20 Senior Tyler Johnson made Honorable mention after averaging 12.3 points per contest and hitting game winning shots against Rose Hill in the first game of the year and then hitting another game winner to stun Class 4A #3 ranked Huntington late in the season. Tyler will be taking advantage of the SB128 rule and playing another year after transferring to Lawrence Co.

Tolsia Girls Head Coach Ric Morrone

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… Julie is a very mobile post presence with perimeter range as well. She can finish effectively with both hands and is comfortable playing both in the high and low post as well as the perimeter. She is a defensive presence that can alter or block shots and is a very efficient rebounder.”

“… Selena is a productive combo-guard that is comfortable running the small forward position or the shooting guard. Great motor on defense and many times draws the opponents toughest match-up. Very good three point range, very effective getting to the rim or creating shots for teammates.”
