Fort Gay, W. Va. — Four Tolsia football members landed on the West Virginia Class A All State team selected by the Sports Writers Association including Senior Defensive lineman Stone Sartin and Junior Utility player John Wilson both making second team.

Senior Stone Sartin was a force for the Rebels this past season. He is getting a few college looks but hasn’t made his decision just yet.

Tolsia went 7-4 this year and lost 13-12 in the last seconds to Wheeling Central Catholic who went on to win the State Championship over Doddridge Co.

Also making All State as Special Honorable Mention was Junior Tanner Copley and Honorable Mention was Junior TJ Jackson.

Most people thought Sartin deserved to make First team from his defensive line spot were he was dominant most of the year and ended up with 14 Sacks and 89 tackles.

Wilson had a great year running the football and ended up with 1,142 yards even though he didn’t have many carries the first three games of the year, he scored 12 touchdowns along with 4 sacks and 80 tackles on defense.

Copley was good on both sides of the ball and battled injuries the latter part of the season. He finished with 705 yards rushing and 8 TD’s along with 3 receiving touchdowns. On defense he had 2 sacks and 69 tackles.

Jackson was also good on both sides of the ball playing on the offensive line and at linebacker. He finished with 3 sacks, 2 interceptions and 89 tackles.

The Rebels return a ton of experience for next season and looked to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Here is a quick look at the schedule for 2020 with a familiar foe coming to Glenhayes.

The Rebels will host county rival Wayne in their season opener on Friday August 28, 2020 and then travel out Wayne in 2021.

The two teams haven’t met in the season opener at Wayne with the Pioneers winning 30-6.

The two met each year previously as members of the Cardinal Conference before Tolsia moved to Class A, plus met twice in the 2006 season with the Rebels winning in the regular season and the Pioneers getting revenge in the State Championship Game in Wheeling.

Tolsia has won two of the past three head-to-head matchups in 2015 and 2016.

AD’S COMMENTS

“… 2020 season we will see three new opponents due to the WVSSAC reclassification. With it shaking up several teams to AA and A and also one opponent (Lincoln county ) to the state’s highest AAA. With that , we now have the greatest Wayne county rivalry back on the schedule with Wayne in week 1.”

“… Then we picked up Midland Trail who was a playoff team last season and semi final team the year before. We also picked up a road game with Parkersburg Catholic who replaces AAA Lincoln county who opted to pay $3,000. buyout to not come to Glenhayes.”
