TUESDAY IS LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO RUN IN PRIMARY

Democrat from Grayson opposing York for State Rep.

With one day left to file for candidacy in the 2018 May Primary election Lawrence County has four unopposed incumbents and one office with no candidate.

Democrat 96th State Rep candidate Brandon Music: “I am running to make sure we fully fund the state pension system with no cuts to this inviolable contract we have made with teachers and police officers. We need a new generation of leadership in Frankfort who believes that you go there to see what you can give back, not to see what you can take.” Short bio: I was born in Ashland, Kentucky to a family of six with three brothers. My father was a mechanic making 9 bucks an hour and my mom was on disability bringing in about 200 dollars a month. Though there was adversity as we struggled growing up, it was just an opportunity that helped me build character. Through my parents hard work, determination, sacrifice and love, I was able to attend school at Berea College where I worked to earn my scholarship. Then I went to law school and have been working for a law firm in Grayson, Kentucky. I focus my practice on working with law enforcement, representing families in difficult times, and helping families buy their first home in the pursuit of the American Dream.”

Longtime Lawrence Co. Coroner Mike Wilson has not signed up and neither has anyone else for the job which has huge responsibilities but, according to Wilson, has a low salary and little to work with.

Despite the complaints, Wilson, or perhaps his son Chris, is expected to sign up by the deadline tomorrow (Tuesday) at 4:00 pm. The younger Wilson currently serves as a deputy coroner.

No candidate has signed up to challenge Lawrence County Clerk Chris Jobe, a Republican who has served four terms, or Jodie Webb Parsley, the Lawrence Circuit Clerk, a Democrat who is running for her third six year term.

PVA Chris Rose, a Democrat, and County Attorney Mike Hogan a Republican also do not have opposition so far.

Democrat candidate Freddie N. West withdrew from the county judge/executive’s race earlier today (Monday), Jobe said.

Jobe said this morning that he expects more candidates to file on the last day tomorrow. “I don’t know why but a lot of people wait until the last day to file, Jobe said.
