Fort Gay, W.Va. — It was a great day at Rebel Arena on Saturday with Fort Gay Youth league basketball along with Crum and Fort Gay battling it out in middle school action. 

Fort Gay 48 Crum 24 

#23 Robert Evans drives to the basket versus Crum on Saturday at Tolsia. 

Robert Evans scored 18 points to lead the Vikings to victory, Kyndal Kincaid tallied 9 points, Brody Caudill added 6 points, Greyson Golden and Caleb Thompson had 4 points each, Keaton Blackburn chipped in with 3 points, CJ Waller and Jeremiah Waller had 2 points each. 

Fort Gay hit 4 three pointers and went 1 of 4 from the foul line. 

The Mountaineers were led by Aiden Maynard with 10 points, Steeler Salmons tallied 8 points, Peyton Muncy added 4 points and Nathan Messer chipped in with 2 points. 

Steeler Salmons knocks down a second half free throw versus Fort Gay. 

Crum hit 4 three pointers and went 2 off 5 from the foul line. 

Fort Gay Youth League scores 

First games of the day involved the 3 and 4 year old division. 

Huxton Perry 8 points, Easton Waller 4 points, Katelyn Thompson, Gracelyn Salmons, Lydia Parsons and Cody Runyon had 2 points each.

Up next it was the 5 and 6 year old division. 

10:30 game 

Cameron Runyon and Micheal Daniel 6 points each, Easton Thompson 3 points, 

11:30 game 

Grayson Jude 6 points, Braxton Waller and Micheal Daniel 2 points each. 

Up next it was the 7 and 8 year old division. 

12:30 game 

Brycen Adkins 10 points, Noah Crabtree 3 points, Jackson Ratliff, Issac Pinder, Sash Gish and Tanner Davis had 2 points each. 

1:30 game 

Issac Sturgell 11 points, Noah Crabtree 6 points, Jaxon Chaffin and Brycen Adkins 4 points each, Grant Goble and Braelynn Meredith 2 points each, Jaxon Parsley 1 point.

Up next it was the 9 to 11 year old division. 

2:30 game 

Braxton Salmons 8 points, Evan Messer 6 points, Aiden Messer 5 points, Xander Holcomb 2 points. 

3:30 game 

Elijah Jude 13 points, TJ Adkins 8 points, Jonathan Dingess and Brayden Evans 2 points each. 

4:30 game 

Karter Johnson 21 points, Tristian Smith 14 points, Isiah Maynard 6 points. 

Fort Gay 43 Vinson 34 ( Thursday ) 

The Vikings improved to 2-0 in Wayne Co. Boys action with a home victory over the Tigers. 

Robert Evans led the victors with 18 points, Kyndal Kincaid added 10 points, Brody Caudill tallied 6 points, CJ Waller netted 5 points, Greyson Golden chipped in with 4 points. 

The Vikings hit 4 three pointers and went 1 of 7 from the foul line. 

Vinson 48 Fort Gay 26 ( Thursday ) 

The Vikings dropped to 0-2 in Wayne Co. Girls action at home to the Tigers. 

#4 Payten Johnson and #12 Olivia Kelly scored 21 of the Vikings 26 points against Vinson Thursday. 

Olivia Kelly led Fort Gay with 15 points, Payten Johnson tallied 6 points, Macy Daniel and Jayden Keene had 2 points each, Bri Crabtree chipped in with 1 point. 

The Vikings hit 1 three pointer and went 1 of 9 from the foul line.

“… It was a great day for our community, the stands were packed all day long and just seeing the smiles on the kids faces when they get announced and get to run out on the floor under the spotlight is what it’s all about. Had one kid tell me after his game in the locker room while he was eating cake that this way the best day ever. And that means a lot to us as a program. Huge thank you to everyone involved it was a fantastic day from beginning to end.”
