a group of residents called Nation Under God gave testimonials of how important it was to be able to bear arms and protect themselves, families and their homes.

On Tuesday January 7, 2020 the town of Fort Gay held its regular town meeting, with a larger crowd than normal. The meeting started out all saying, “The Pledge of Allegiance”, followed by prayer, led by Lee Kitts.

Mayor Joetta Hatfield discussed how well the Christmas Tree Lighting Event had gone, with larger numbers attending the event, than the previous 3 years.

She also stated that they had been getting all the water line issues solved and fixed. “Water problems caused by old, antiquated pipe and connections are taking place all over the country and we are working on a grant that will help is replace many of the lines and infracture,” Hatfiled said in an earlier interview with The Lazer.

Its not everyday you get to scoot close to your Mayor and love up on her and applaud her for her efforts in your hometown… Wait a minute, yes, it is everyday! She always seems to make time for people like me. This lady is such a force in the city of Fort Gay. I cannot believe all the wonderful progress she has made and all the things to come! I’m in awe of her and her counsel. I was really humbled to sit in on a town hall meeting to be greeted with such care and welcome! I heard a lot of wonderful things happening in the city and awesome plans for the town’s future. #hometownproud

Mayor Hatfield was looking forward to getting the old Fort Gay High School’s roof repaired and the school fixed up as this is a historical building. This will be discussed in the February meeting. (See Lazer story)

A group of residents called ‘Nation Under God’ gave testimonials of how important it is to be able to bear arms and protect themselves, families and their homes. This is their 2nd Amendment Right to do so, members of NUG said.

They proposed to the council to make Fort Gay a Second Amendment Sanctuary. (Basically if State or Federal Government tries to infringe on their 2nd Amendments rights it would give them protection).

Joetta Hatfield and council members Greg Cavins, William Thompson, Lee Kitts, Ralph Dent, Jamie Frasher and Sheila Bowen/Recorder.

They stated that a lot of counties in West Virginia are in the process of trying to get this voted in and Boone County had already passed it. Members discussed how bad Virginia had it with multiple states following Virginia in an attempt to ban automatic weapons and confiscate them if need be.

They said everyone needs to act quickly while they can, before it is too late and all our Second Amendment Rights are gone!

Mayor Hatfield stated that they would have to check out all legal aspects of this matter and if council approves they will be holding a special meeting which has to be posted to public at least 48 hours before it can be approved.

She said she will be informing the residents as soon as she knows for certain. A large crowd is expected, if they have a special meeting.

its our constitutional rights to have our guns, nothing needs sorted out , if they take our guns then next they take every thing else, is it not clear what the left is trying to do all across our country? you have to be completly stupid to not know what is happening, we are being took over as a free people

Actually automatic weapons are already prohibited by federal law without special tax stamps and have been for many decades. Virginia Democrats are trying to ban most semi-automatic weapons including many of the most popular guns owned by millions of Americans. An automatic firearm fires more than one cartridge when you pull the trigger. A semi-automatic firearm only fires one cartridge per trigger pull.

im not paying city taxes for this people sould depend on the government and give guns up

You mean Semi-Automatic weapons, which is 99% of all guns, even a double barrel shotgun or six shooter is technically a semi-auto and the gun grabbers want to ban them all. They want to ban guns while hiding behind gun carrying security personnel.
