Phoenix, AZ Former Lawrence Co. Star and current Morehead St. Eagle Jackson Feltner was invited to the MLB Combine this upcoming week in Arizona.

Feltner helped the Eagles to the OVC regular season outright title  for the first time since 1979 with 36-20 record and came up one win away from the NCAA Tournament falling in the OVC Tournament championship game to Eastern Illinois 6-5. He started all 56 games this season and had a batting average of .348 belted 14 home runs, had 72 hits, scored 60 runs, drove in 47, smacked 14 doubles and 3 triples.

Feltner will fly to Arizona for the combine were around 300 Draft-eligible prospects are set to take part in the 2023 MLB Draft Combine from June 19-24 at Chase Field in Phoenix, including six of the top 10 and 40 of the top 50 ranked on MLB Pipeline’s Draft Top 200 Prospects list. In total, 169 players from the Top 200 have indicated they plan to participate.

MLB and USA Baseball announced the full list of 274 Draft-eligible Combine participants on Wednesday.

Ex-big leaguers such as Eric Davis, Mike Cameron, Raul Ibañez, Rajai Davis, Gregor Blanco, Brad Penny, Dan Otero, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Luis Alicea, Jeff Reboulet and Michael Tucker will be on hand as well, as will former Marlins president of baseball operations and MLB’s current senior vice president of on-field operations Michael Hill and former MLB hitting coach Rick Eckstein

Now in its third year, the event offers an opportunity for players to interview and interact directly with MLB general managers and scouting directors, as well as take part in a series of medical and performance assessments and educational programming designed to prepare them for careers in professional baseball. Attendees will also have opportunities to be featured on MLB social media channels, in addition to receiving personal branding training and access to real-time content and custom video for their own platforms.

MLB Network will provide extensive on-site coverage of the Combine on June 20-21.

Like last year’s Combine at Petco Park in San Diego, the 2023 edition will be open to the public. Gates will be open to fans on June 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. MST, and on June 21 from noon to 4:30 p.m. MST.

The Combine comes less than a month prior to the 2023 MLB Draft, which is scheduled for July 9-11 in Seattle.

Feltner recently worked out for the Padres and Giants up in Indiana and put on a good showing.

If Feltner is drafted he would be the third Bulldog in school history along with Steve Blevins by the Twins and Chandler Shepherd by the Red Sox.

PLAYER’S COMMENTS

“… I’m very excited to get this opportunity to showcase my skills in front of many MLB organizations. It is awesome to consider the fact that I have the opportunity to get drafted. It means so much to me to see all my hard work give me this opportunity to fulfill my dream.”

“… Winning the regular season championship was a great accomplishment for me and my teammates. I’m extremely proud of this team and it’s awesome to see our hard work and dedication pay off across the stretch of a conference season. It was definitely not the ideal outcome for us losing in the championship. Nonetheless, I’m still proud of this team and the accomplishments that we achieved together.”
