Florene Hampton, 97, of Louisa, KY passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021 at her home following a brief illness.  She was born in Van Lear, KY on May 16, 1923, the daughter of Rev. James Cullie Hager and Edna Sizemore Hager. On June 16, 1946 she married Carl Clay Hampton who preceded her in death on February 5, 1977.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Jerry Clay Hampton, brothers Arthur, Charles, and James Hager and sister Shirley Meade.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Gary Uhrig of Chillicothe, Ohio; son John Hampton of Clearwater, Florida; grandchildren Dr. Lisa Uhrig of Chillicothe, Ohio, Nathan Uhrig of Kissimmee, Florida, and Ashley and Jared Hampton of Clearwater. Florida; great-grandchildren Ella and Ryker Pelfrey of Chillicothe, Ohio; sister-in-law Betty Hager of Louisa, Kentucky and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Florene was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Louisa, where she spent many years serving as a children’s teacher and working in Bible School. She sang in the church choir until she was 83 years old.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Community Hospice of Ashland, especially to Nurse Jackie and Miss Linda; and to Loudella Ratcliff, caregiver, for their compassionate care.

A private service will be held at First Baptist Church on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 2:00 PM  for the immediate family only with Rev. Rick Frazier and Rev. Chuck Price officiating. Private Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The service will be live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube on the First Baptist Church of Louisa page.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of flowers or donations to First Baptist Church of Louisa, Gideons International, or Operation Christmas Child.

Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Hampton and her family.

    I know God gained an angle, but it was hard to let her go. It certainly was a pleasure taking care of Florene. She was so good to me and my dog (Bear). She had a lovely family, that treated me and my dog with so much kindness. We will miss her dearly.
