ROTARIANS RULE!…

By Susan Salyer

On Thursday August 18, 2022 The Louisa Rotary Club had a weekly scheduled meeting at First Baptist Church in Louisa, Kentucky from 12-1PM. Louisa Rotary Club Vice President Thomas Bradley welcomed Rotarians and Guests. Louisa Rotary President Harold Slone was absent.

Rotarians Sherry Compton, Willa Cook and Ellen Taylor at Louisa Rotary Weekly Meeting August 18, 2022.

The Prayer, Pledge of Allegiance, The Four Way Test were led by Louisa Rotary Vice President Thomas Bradley who introduced Rotarian and Guest Speaker Superintendent of Lawrence County Schools Dr. Robbie Fletcher.

Fletcher told Louisa Rotary that he  “has a  vision for Lawrence County Schools in Kentucky…All In LC”

He said his vision starts with K – 6th Grade for Louisa, Blaine and Fallsburg. Then 7th and 8th Graders in Lawrence County will ALL go to the Louisa Middle School then ALL students will go to LCHS 9th – 12th Grade.

He did not say if any or all of his vision is supported by the BOE members,

Fletcher said the nickel tax did not pass and now, 3 years later after Covid, the nickel tax can’t pay for the Lawrence County School System’s upgrades and construction which would be around $40 million.

“State Officials have said if you don’t buy into the nickel tax the State of Kentucky will not be able to match school funds. We are at our limit $20 million to borrow from the State. In today’s terms that means now we must pay a dime tax to cover our costs. All in LC…

After several questions from Rotary member such as “what is the difference in turf and what we have?” among others before Rotary was adjourned.

The next regularly scheduled meeting for Louisa Rotary is Thursday 25, 2022 12-1:00 pm. at Louisa First Baptist Church.

All I can say to Mr. Fletcher make do with what you got people can’t afford more taxes

Forget it Fletcher. Never gonna pass. This board of Education has never been transparent and the public doesn’t trust them.

  3. Taxpayer says:

Build big bad shrines to education. What a joke. Or kids don’t need to require all LC students riding busses all the way to Louisa. Don’t need all new schools. I vote no. We cant afford more taxes. I guess an educated person just can’t understand how taxes “tax” families. Kind of like the library board. No good for Lawrence County.

Just keep throwing money at Robbie, they paid for his education, his truck, big raise this year, it’ll be easy for him to get his $40 million

I had a $40 million dollar dream last night then I woke up and realized it was just a DREAM

A big vote NO on more taxes. Tighten your belt Fletcher. We’re taxed to death. I guess after you witness this library heist you want in on the tax lottery. Can’t say I blame you but the taxpayers are wising up to this tax gouging. Borrow the money from the library. In a few years they’ll have 40 million (tax dollars) to loan. I hate it but I agree with KAG on this one. Lets Go Brandon !!!

  7. No taxes says:

The school board should consider having a car wash… Heath could be on soap and Robbie can hold the hose, Barb on interior, and Garnett does the tires. In a few years who knows we could have all new schools. Or this is just a dream!!

I wouldn’t mind seeing Heath in a white tshirt, all soaked and rubbing his sudsy chest on my windshield in a seductive manner.

  8. I am offended says:

I am offended. Just a dime? I demand a quarter tax. I’m am truely offended Dr. Robbie Fletcher!

You wanna cause an uproar in Lawrence County. Try and slip it on the ballot to get it passed. The sh!$ will hit the fan.
