LCHS football/soccer field was ready for installation of turf last week before word came down the project had bad terrain under gravel. The project is now six weeks behind and the ’23 football season start is in jeopardy.

LOUISA, KY. — Just two months until the traditional start of football and soccer seasons begin, a wrench has been thrown into the mix with work on the $1 million ‘turf’ project stalled because of faulty work, Supt. Dr. Rob Fletcher said today.

Football and Soccer begin at the high school level in August.

Here’s what Fletcher told The Lazer about the situation:

“…I just finished a phone call with the company.  Here is what was discussed.”

“There are some sub grade issues that were discovered by the subcontractor responsible for installing the turf.   Sprinturf will require the subcontractor who placed the gravel originally to fix the issue by placing a subtile that will provide a more firm foundation.

This protect the field from developing “soft spots” as time passes.  According to Sprinturf representative, they will begin that process within the next two weeks.   The repair process will require another two weeks.   The installation will also require two weeks.  Overall, Sprinturf has given us a 6-week timeline to have the project completed.”

“If there are changes and when a solid start date is given, I will let you know as we move forward.”

Must be a union job. It’s ridiculous. I hope it’s a hard dollar job and not by the hour. If it is the taxpayers are getting the shaft.

Thats why it costs a million dollars. Theyre milking the county dry. Doesnt anyone oversee these projects. Thx KEGS for not blaming Trump.

Nothing is ever finished on time and on budget. That’s because palms are getting greased and bags of money are getting passed around. Shame on us for always letting this happen.

Should of hired the people who build the dollar stores. They can build one in a month and have the shelfs stocked and it would come in under a million.

So, I looked up the company and it’s confusing BBB has it rated A+, but has no reports, or comments. Overall, their biggest problem is keeping people employed their turnaround rate is at 90% on Indeed.com with employees and Ex employees there were more cons than good. I have lived in Charleston, SC for many years and never heard anything good about the company.

If it was a union job, it would have been done correctly
