Supt. Fletcher’s letter to the public

Dear Lawrence County Family,

On December 18, 2020, Governor Andy Beshear provided an Executive Order that permits school systems to operate in a “more aggressive hybrid” setting when its county has an incidence rate is higher than 25, or in the “RED” status.

Unfortunately, Lawrence County’s incidence rate has been 4 to 5 times higher than the threshold for the last 7 days, with state map having us at our highest rate this week with a 144.6 index.  (On Tuesday, January 5, 2021, Lawrence County had the highest incidence rate in the eastern half of the state, based on the state incidence map.)

With this in mind, we will delay the start of our hybrid learning schedule for another two weeks. Our next goal date will be Monday, January 25, 2021 to begin our hybrid A/B schedule.

I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.  I can assure you that our staff members are eager to have your children back in our cafeterias, on our buses, and in our classrooms, but we want to be able to provide the safest environment possible.

As always, thank you for your support, for your understanding, and for your being…

All In,

Robbie L. Fletcher, EdD

Superintendent, Lawrence County Schools
