Louisville, Ky. — Former Lawrence Co. baseball standout Jackson Feltner had a RBI single in the 8th inning that gave Morehead St. a 3-2 lead and the Eagles eventually won 5-2 over #1 Louisville Tuesday afternoon at Jim Patterson Stadium.

The Eagles trailed 2-0 going to the top of the 8th inning before going off for 5 runs and then held on for the victory and shocking the number one team in the nation.

Morehead St. improved to 2-5 and the Cardinals dropped to 6-2 on the young season.

Feltner started at first base for the Eagles and batted in the seven spot. This was the first meeting against the #1 team in school history for MSU.

Morehead State will have a three-game set against Marshall this weekend. The Eagles and ‘Herd play Friday at 1 p.m. ET at Marshall before the home opener at Allen Field is set for Saturday at 1 p.m.

PLAYER’S COMMENTS

“… Playing against Louisville was a once in a lifetime experience for sure. It was a great opportunity to really prove ourselves and we did just that. We didn’t let the moment get too big and we didn’t let up the whole game. When we finally broke through we finished the job. My last at bat I just did my job and came through in the clutch. This win is definitely a big one and hopefully we can carry the momentum into the weekend.”
