BAD GRANDPA: FEDERAL DRUG BUST IN JOHNSON COUNTY

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — An investigation that began in the early part of 2019 by federal and local law enforcement has led to the arrest of a Johnson County man who has been slapped by Uncle Sam on a drug trafficking indictment.
 
According to a press release report via Sheriff Doug Saylor; on Wednesday morning, May 1,  the Johnson County Sheriff Department office and was assisted by the Drug Enforcement Agency (London, Ky office) that together conducted a four month investigation into the illegal distribution of drugs in Johnson County. 
 
The conclusion of this investigation has resulted in the arrest of Proctor Wayne Pennington Sr., Age 65 of 64 Ross Branch Road, Flat Gap Ky. 
 
Pennington was charged with a federal indictment involving the illegal distribution of more than 1 pound of methamphetamines in Johnson and surrounding areas. 
 
Pennington was arrested and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center via further assistance of the U.S. Marshal service pending initial appearance with a magistrate judge. 
 
Johnson County Sheriff Doug Saylor is committed to aggressively investigating and prosecuting the illegal sale of drugs in Johnson County and encourages the public to call the Sheriff’s Office or the 24 hour Drug Tip line with any information on the issue.
