FALLSBURG FEARPLEX IS A ‘MUST SEE’ THIS YEAR WITH NEW ADDITIONS

LAWRENCE COUNTY’S TOP YEARLY ATTRACTION IS BAAAAK!

One of Lawrence County's top attractions every year, the Fallsburg Fearplex opened this weekend for a sneak preview and it will be open this coming weekend, too. (See schedule). Click pic for video

Fearplex crowd lining up Saturday evening. Last year more than 20,000 visitors came to Lawrence County to experience the Fallsburg Fearplex.

It’s that time of year when ghost stories are abound. I never anticipated being scared at a Haunted House! I was wrong when I attended the Fallsburg Fearplex this weekend. I was one of the first 5 people that got to enter the Fearplex in 2016.

There are 5 different phases to enjoy:

1. The Corn Maze (Never knew how intense walking through a corn maze at night could be!)

2. Crazy Creek

3. The Very Haunted House

4. Backwoods Blackout

5. Appalachian Nightmare 3D.

Plus a hayride!

I hadn’t been to the Fearplex since it first started with the haunted house alone, and I was in for a shock. There is proof of the intensity of the “scare factor” when it’s rated top 3 in the nation.

Tucked into Fallsburg, a small community where everyone knows everyone, I was on a hayride with no one I knew. Except for the guide, Kenny Chaney, I was surrounded by people from South Point, OH. Grayson, Ky., Chesapeake, OH. Just to name a couple.

“Really scary, very crazy. Has real life stuff that looks too realistic and the House was my favorite!” says Kaylee Allen on the hayride. “We come every year, can’t keep from it. It’s so much fun.” stated Jeremy Traylor from Grayson, Ky.

After talking to Ken Akers, the manager of Appalachian Nightmare 3D and Backwoods Blackout I learned that people had actually traveled from as far as Evanville, Indiana to check out something that is right in our backyard.

Last year alone approximately 20,000 people went through the Haunted Fearplex and owner Bryan Cassady and his crew are out to beat that record with new additions and changes this season. (Can’t ruin it for everyone) I can tell you that the man who did the painting for Appalachian Nightmare 3D, Chris Dixon worked with Rob Zombie on his make-up and props. So much talent, no wonder it is so amazing.

And the group spreads the success aroung the community including the LCHS Lady Bulldogs basketball team getting to do the concessions which is their main fundraiser each year and much more.

Fallsburg Haunted House/ Fallsburg Fearplex is a haunted attraction that has been in operation since 1987, and has NOW expanded to include 5 attractions.

Cassady and a few buddies and family members started in 1987 with simply the Fallsburg Haunted House, and expanded in 2012 with Hell’s Wagon Paintball. In 2013 they added a third attraction, Crazy Creek.  The 2014 season saw the debut of the Appalachian 3-D Black-Out, which is complete with actors and the Backwoods Black-Out which is a pitch black maze in the same building with the Appalachian Nightmare 3D.

And this year there are more new surprises to chill you to the bone! If you truly want to enjoy the Halloween, Fall season this is a must see!

Not recommended for the faint hearted.

Great entertainment, truly amazing graphics and seriously terrifying at times.

The staff was helpful and can’t be beat!

Nothing but good to say about the entire FALLSBURG FEARPLEX experience!
