Edris Fern Compton Short 

1926 — 2018

 

Edris Fern Compton Short, 91, of Louisa, KY went home to be with the Lord on Friday April 13, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Fern was born Oct. 16, 1926 in Lawrence County, the daughter of the late William David and Laura Vanhorn Compton. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Homer Drexel Short who died in 2008; her siblings Avis Foley, Jack Compton, Glenn Compton, Iris Freelander, Nick Compton, and Ned Compton, Craig Compton, and Jay Compton; and her father and mother in law Jack and Lucy Short.

Fern was a retired Medical Receptionist working many years at the Louisa Medical Clinic, a member of the Louisa United Methodist Church, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include three sons; Michael Ray Short and wife Joy of Louisville, KY, Roger Jack Short of Louisa, and Homer Drexel Short II and wife Lori of Naples, Florida; a brother David Compton, four sisters Maris Lucas, Joy McComas, Corlis Barnette, and Janis Hayes; grandchildren Aaron Short, Alexander Short, Krista Reeves, Shane Short and Trace Short; and great grandchildren Bailey Marie Reeves, Elizabeth Jane Reeves, Elly Dawn Reeves, Sean Thomas Short, and Laura Addison Short.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 17, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Louisa United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Smith and Rev. Guy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Compton Cemetery Louisa, KY.

Friends may visit the family on Monday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home.

Care has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home.
