Eastern Kentucky native Josh Martin returning to the MAC
The Voice contestant, Opry vocalist Rachel Messer set to open
Prestonsburg, Ky. – Floyd County native and Nashville-based singer/songwriter/musician Josh Martin comes home to the Willard & Lucy Kinzer Theater of the Mountain Arts Center (MAC) Friday, March 1 at 7:30pm.
Martin, a captivating guitarist who is proficient on a variety of instruments, brings the rich, soulful vocal integrity of someone much older and wiser than his years, drawing upon his own memories and stories of growing up in a small coal mining community in Floyd County that make his music authentic and deeply personal.
Between writing songs, recording in the studio, and playing live shows, Martin is well on his way to getting the national recognition he deserves. He has written songs with award winning songwriters such as Kent Blazy, Mark Nesler, Phillip White, Steven Dale Jones, Casey Beathard, Marla Cannon-Goodman and many others. Martin is currently one of the featured artists on The Country Network’s new show “Live From CMH23,” a series dedicated to promoting eastern Kentucky’s plethora of talented young artists and musicians. The Country Network is broadcast and streamed into 20,000,000 homes.
“I have been looking forward to this show since last year,” Martin declared, while speaking on a quick break in the recording studio.
“We are bringing a full band with us this time and a bunch of new material from the new album due out early this year. Throw a couple special guests into the mix, and Rachel opening up the show, you are definitely not going to want to miss it!”
Vocalist Rachel Messer of Billie Jean Osborne’s Kentucky Opry, fresh from her 2018 break-out appearance on NBC’s hit talent contest The Voice, is the special guest for the evening. Messer has also been featured on The Country Network’s “Live From CMH23” celebration of eastern Kentucky musicians.
Josh Martin with special guest Rachel Messer will be Friday, March 1 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased through the MAC box office at www.macarts.com, by calling 1 (888) MAC-ARTS, or in person Monday through Friday from 10am – 6pm.
