Dorothy Mae Carter Preston, 87, of Louisa, KY, went home to be with the Lord, on Thursday, November 21, 2019 following an extended illness.  ‘

Mrs. Preston was born July 7, 1932 in Louisa, KY to the late Bascom and Dora Bevins Carter.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Jack Preston, three sisters, Garnet Holland, Vonda Pigg, and Wilda Bush, and one brother, Harvey Carter.

She is survived by three sons, James Edward Preston and wife, Cindy, Henry Ray Preston and wife, Carol, and David Eugene Preston and wife, Jennifer,  one brother, Morton (Hazel) Carter, one sister-in-law, Emma Faye Carter, one brother-in-law, Charlie Holland, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Mrs. Preston was a member of Louisa Freewill Baptist Church where she participated in the many functions of the Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Dorothy served her Savior faithfully for decades in the nursery of the church and even opening her home to care for children of the community.  Dorothy loved quilting, gardening, and cooking.  She was especially known for her peanut butter fudge, humble smile and encouraging words.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 26 at 1pm at the Louisa Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Preston will lie in state from noon until time of service on Tuesday. Burial will follow at the Carter Cemetery.

Friends may visit the family on Monday November 25 from 6-8pm at Wilson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Louisa Free Will Baptist Church and/or the Alzheimer’s Association @ alz.org/donate

All care has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home.
