Democrats Hypocritical on Paycheck Protection Program

Party Bosses & Politicians Attack GOP-led Relief for Workers & Businesses – While Taking the $$$

Frankfort, KY – While Republicans like President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell lead our country through an unprecedented crisis with much-needed aid for workers and businesses, Democrats are publicly criticizing their efforts to support jobs and employers, like the Paycheck Protection Program – while taking taxpayer dollars through these programs.

“President Trump and Senator McConnell have been leading our country to recovery through an unprecedented crisis – including saving thousands of Kentucky jobs with the Paycheck Protection Program,” Republican Party of Kentucky spokesman Mike Lonergan said. “Instead of scoring brazenly hypocritical political points, Democrats should get back to work and support GOP efforts to help struggling families, workers and businesses.”

After publicly criticizing President Trump’s handling of the economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis, Kentucky Democrat Party Chair Ben Self’s company took a loan of between $150,000 to $350,000 from the Paycheck Protection Program.

Democrat candidate Amy McGrath also publicly criticized the PPP, even though her consultants and former employer made use of the program. Additionally, the Democrat Parties of Florida and Ohio have both received loans through the PPP – despite their leaders publicly criticizing the program.

“This is just another sad example of Democrat hypocrisy,” Lonergan concluded. “They’re only too happy to play politics – even while taking advantage of the leadership shown by President Trump and Senator McConnell.”
