JAMES H. ALLEN, 37, OF SALYERSVILLE, FACES CRIMINAL CHARGES IN CONNECTION TO OVERDOSE DEATH OF A COMPANION.

A Magoffin County man is facing criminal charges following an overdose death.

James H. Allen, 37, of Salyersville, was arrested just after 1:00 A.M. Thursday morning, December 24, by trooper Joseph E. Weddington, of the Kentucky State Police, after a person with him overdosed and died.

James Allen reportedly told police officers that he and two other unidentified individuals were using heroin that was possibly mixed with fentanyl, when the overdose incident occurred. James Allen also allegedly admitted that he did not seek emergency assistance or provide medical aid to the victim, but rather just moved the body.

James Allen has now been charged with: *TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST OFFENSE (HEROIN), *DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS, *FAILURE TO RENDER. AID.

The case will be presented to a Magoffin County Grand Jury next month, January 2021, which could see James Allen being additionally charged via an indictment on a homicide charge.

James Allne was transported to and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.

James Allen posted his bond and was released at  3:32 P.M., on Monday, December 28.
