Dawgs win in OT at Russell, drop first game vs Boyd Co.

Louisa, Ky. — After starting the season with three straight wins Lawrence Co. ran into a buzz saw Saturday night in a 80-57 loss to Boyd Co ( 1-0 ). 

Bulldog basketball 2016The Dawgs fell behind early and battled back to trail 30-25 at halftime. After Lawrence Co. scored the first five points of the second half to tie the score at 30, the Lions went on a run and never looked back to pin the first loss of the season on Lawrence Co. 

Timmy Dalton led the Dawgs with 23 points before fouling out early in the 4th quarter. Jared Wellman tallied 12 points, Alex Gilliam had 8 points, Trey Dotson hit two three pointers for 6 points, Tyler Maynard 5 points and Jordan Johnson 3 points. The Dawgs hit 3 three pointers and went 4-6 from the foul line

Boyd Co. was lead by Hunter Kenser with 26 points.

LC vs, Russell

On Wednesday night at Russell ( 0-1 ) the Dawgs improved to 3-0 with a 74-70 overtime victory. Timmy Dalton had 33 points to lead Lawrence Co. in the scoring column, Jared Wellman scored a career high 26 points including 9-9 from the line with 6 free throws coming in overtime, Alex Gilliam tallied 9 points and Trey Dotson chipped in with 6 points. The Dawgs hit 2 three pointers and went 26-32 from the foul line. 

Russell was led in scoring by Bobby Hale with 21 points
