Mount Vernon, Ky. — It will be a vaunted defense versus a high powered offense when Lawrence Co. ( 8-3 ) and Rockcastle Co. ( 10-1 ) lock horns on Friday in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs.

2023 Bulldog Seniors

Will McDavid, Jake Derifield, Cody Crum, Abner Collinsworth, Dalton Runyons

Mason Johnson, Dakota Daniels, Logan Ratliff, Luis Chicko, Talon Pollack, Blake Prater, Ethan Prater, Jackson Burgess, Tristian Handley

The Dawgs are only giving up 13 points per game and no one has scored more than 22 points in a game this season.

Lawrence Co. is coming off arguably their best overall performance of the season in a 43-6 victory over Knox Central last Friday in the first round of the playoffs.

The Bulldogs rushed for 249 yards and six touchdowns in the home victory led by Cody Crum who surpassed the 1,000 yard barrier and went over the 100 tackle mark as well.

The Lawrence Co. defense had three interceptions one each from Eli Fletcher, Andrew Ratcliffe and Will McDavid last week and will be put to the test on Friday. Luis Chicko, Ty Brooks and the linebackers will need to put some pressure on Warren and force some turnovers.

The Rockets are scoring 48 points per game with a season high 63 in a win over Grant Co. on September 8th. They have scored at least 27 points in every game this year.

Rockcastle Co. handled Estill Co. 49-12 last Friday at home to open up the playoffs.

The Rockets are led by dual threat Senior quarterback #4 Tucker Warren who has 2,891 total yards and 41 touchdowns on the season.

#3 Caleb Moore is the leading receiver with 40 catches for 795 yards and 15 touchdowns, #11 Christian Larkey has caught 29 passes for 520 yards and 6 touchdowns, #2 Isiah Jackson has 33 receptions for 438 yards and 6 touchdowns.

The only blemish on the Rockets resume was a 39-37 loss at Paris on September 15th.

The two teams have met five times with the Rockets holding a 3-2 advantage with Lawrence Co. winning the last meeting in 2010 in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs 40-20.
