LOUISA, KY Lawrence Co. improved to 5-0 on the year and 4-0 in 58th District play with two wins over Prestonsburg on Monday and Tuesday.

Lawrence Co. 11 Prestonsburg 0 ( Monday )

On a rainy and chilly evening Tyler Maynard threw a one hitter and Jackson Feltner belted a three run homer to lead the Bulldogs to a District victory at the Stonecrest Sports Park.

Maynard went five innings, striking out 9 Blackcats and walked zero. He helped his own cause with 1 hit, 2 runs and 2 RBIs.

For the Dawgs offensively Bryce Blevins had 1 hit, 1 run and 1 RBI, Ethan Whitt doubled and scored, Hunter Crum 1 hit and 1 run, Lucas Maynard 1 hit and 1 run, Austin Roe 1 hit, CJ Fairchild scored twice.

Lawrence Co. 10 Prestonsburg 5 ( Tuesday )

The Dawgs completed the regular season sweep of the Blackcats at Randy Keeton Field.

Jackson Feltner picked up the win on the mound with 3 1/3 innings allowing only 2 hits and struck out 5 batters. He also drove in a run and scored once.

Bryce Blevins paced the offense with 2 hits and 4 RBIs, Tyler Maynard had 2 hits and 1 run, CJ Fairchild scored 3 runs, 2 RBIs and 1 hit, Austin Roe doubled, Hunter Crum scored 2 runs, Ethan Whitt 1 RBI and Lucas Maynard 1 hit.

Lawrence Co. will hit the road on Thursday to face defending 15th Region champion Paintsville at 5:30.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… We didn’t play very well on Tuesday night. We just weren’t focused enough and played sloppy baseball. We played better on Monday than we did tonight. I wouldn’t say we were sharp Monday night. Tyler Maynard just dominated them.”
