DAWGS SEASON ENDS AT FLOYD CENTRAL IN FIRST ROUND OF 58TH DISTRICT TOURNEY

 Langley, Ky. — After four straight trips to the 15th Region tournament Lawrence Co. (8-22) will miss it this year after falling 71-49 at Floyd Central (18-11) in the first round of the 58th District tournament Tuesday night.

Lawrence Co. hung around until the 4th quarter only trailing 42-32 before the Jaguars exploded for 33 points outscoring the Dawgs by 16 and advanced to the title game.

Cody Maynard had 13 points in a season ending loss at Floyd Central.The Bulldogs were led by Tyler Maynard with 17 points, Cody Maynard tallied 13 points including 2 three pointers, Alex Ratliff hit 3 three pointers for 9 points, Chase Sartin 5 points, Weston Hardin and Baden Gillispie 2 points each, Lucas Maynard 1 point.

Lawrence Co. 13 10 9 17 – 49
Floyd Central 13 21 8 33 – 71

Lawrence Co. only loses one player from this year’s team in senior Weston Hardin.

The Dawgs return a nucleus of Tyler Maynard, Cody Maynard, Baden Gillispie, Lucas Maynard and Noah Fairchild.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… Yeah we hung tough early. Played hard and fought until the end. Very proud of Weston. He was so unselfish. He did all the little things for us this season. Screens, charges, boxing out, diving for loose balls. He did everything we asked and never complained about lack of shots. He did the dirty work and battled every game.”

“… Future is bright for all the kids we have returning. We will have a lot of experience returning next season. This is a hard working group. I’m sure they will have a great offseason.”
