Pikeville, Ky — Lawrence Co. ( 19-5 ) lost on the road 61-48 to Pikeville ( 20-1 ) on Tuesday at TW Oliver Memorial Gymnasium.
Against the #1 rated team in the 15th Region the Dawgs fell behind early and never could get untracked offensively.

Trenton Adkins led the Dawgs with 18 points, Tyler Johnson netted 14 points, Cody Maynard tallied 7 points, Andrew Bloomfield 5 points, Kaden Gillispie and Will Lafferty 2 points each.
The Dawgs hit 4 three pointers and went 2 of 9 from the foul line.
Pikeville was led by Nick Robinson with 17 points, Rylee Samons 15 points, Laithan Hall 12 points, Keian Worrix 11 points, Lukas Manns and Tate Walters 3 points each.
The Panthers hit 8 three pointers and went 3 of 6 from the foul line.

The Dawgs remained undefeated in 58th District ( 4-0 ) action with the home victory over the Blackcats.

Nine different Bulldogs scored led by Tyler Johnson who hit 5 three pointers and finished with 19 points, Cody Maynard and Kaden Gillispie scored 11 points each, Trenton Adkins tallied 9 points, Andrew Bloomfield and Logan Ratliff scored 8 points each, Will Lafferty 6 points, Blake Marcum 5 points and Dawson Bellomy 4 points.

The Dawgs hit 7 three pointers and went 12 of 15 from the free throw line.
Prestonsburg ( 3-17 ) was led by Kaden Allen with 14 points, Jon Little 9 points, Wes Salisbury 7 points, Brian Halbert 4 points, Mason Stidham 3 points, Grant Varney and Jacob Slone 2 points each, Kasey Meade 1 point.
The Blackcats hit 6 three pointers and went 6 of 10 from the foul line.

The Dawgs will return to action on Friday night with a trip to district rival Betsy Layne followed by a trip to Lewis Co. on Saturday afternoon.

“… Good win last night to start off a busy week for us. Certainly a good thing to be undefeated in the district at this point in the season. We go to Pikeville to play a really good team tonight that just won an all A state championship and is ranked top 10 in the state. They are really long and athletic, and very well coached. Looking forward to the opportunity and the challenge for our guys. Playing teams like Pikeville at this point in the season is very beneficial.”

“… Tough loss at Pikeville this week. They are very long and athletic. They are 20-1 for a reason. One of our biggest concerns going into that game was rebounding, but our guys did a really good job with them in that regard. They are the best defensive team that we’ve seen all year, that was good for our guys to see that at this point in the season. Definitely a lot of things to learn from that game and we are looking forward to going to Betsy Layne tomorrow evening!”
