Lawrence County goes 1-1 on the week, 17-8 on season
Logan, W. Va After losing 13-1 to #2 Wayne on Wednesday night. Lawrence Co. (17-8) traveled to #4 Logan (16-5) on Thursday night and played a great game before falling 2-1 as the Wildcats scored in the bottom of the seventh to take home the win.
The game was scoreless until Logan broke through against Bulldog starter Lucas Maynard who left the game in the 4th inning for Blake Jordan with runners on first and second with two outs in the fourth, the first batter Jordan faced got a base hit up the middle and the Wildcats took 1-0 lead.
The Dawgs came right back in the sixth when Austin Roe was hit by a pitch and Jackson Feltner brought home courtesy runner Sam Collinsworth with a RBI double to tie the score at 1.
Logan got a leadoff single in the 7th, after a fielder’s choice for the first out the next hitter lined a ball into the right field corner to score the winning run and end the ballgame.
Lucas Maynard pitched well for the second straight outing as he went 4 and 2/3 innings, allowed seven hits, striking out three, walking three and only allowed one run. Jordan went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing three hits, striking out two and gave up one run.
The Dawgs had just three hits on the night. Hunter Crum doubled and walked, Trace Bowen singled, Lucas Maynard walked.

The Dawgs traveled to Vanceburg on Friday night and scored eight runs in the top of the seventh to break open a tie game and walked away with the victory in a steady rain. After playing a low scoring game at Logan on Thursday this one resembled a slow pitch softball game.
Brad Parks went 3-4 with a home run, double and single with four RBIs, four runs scored to pace the offense. Trace Bowen had two hits including a triple, scored twice and knocked in two runs, Jackson Feltner had two doubles, two RBIs and scored twice, CJ Fairchild doubled, two RBI and scored twice, Austin Roe had two hits and plated one, Bryce Blevins two hits, RBI and scored once, Tyler Maynard one hit and scored twice, Dakota Shortridge RBI double.
Dakota ” Big Cat” Shortridge got the win in relief of Kade Sword, Jackson Feltner got the final out of the game with a strikeout.
The Bulldogs will travel to Raceland tonight for a twin bill with the Rams starting at 5:00.

“… Where we are at we can’t just ball up and not compete, if we do that we will get our brains beat in like we did against Wayne.” Logan and Wayne are very much alike. Both teams are very good. …We weren’t sharp anywhere against Wayne. We are not good enough to just go through the motions and expect to win.” Lucas Maynard threw well for the second straight time and Blake Jordan was the best I’ve seen him this year. That is a good sign for us moving forward.”
