Dawgs come up short against Boyd Co.

Louisa, Ky. — A veteran Boyd Co. ( 5-2 ) team used their depth to wear down Lawrence Co. ( 3-2 ) and pull away for a 76-67 victory Tuesday night at the Dawg House.

Cody Maynard led the Bulldogs with 29 points including 4 three pointers, Trenton Adkins finished with 14 points, Will Lafferty netted 9 points, Baden Gillispie scored 8 points, Kaden Gillispie 5 points and Zach Holt chipped in with 2 points.

The Dawgs hit 6 three pointers and went 17 of 26 from the charity strip.

 

 

Boyd Co. was led by Rheyce Deboard who tallied 22 points including 6 three pointers, Austin Gibbs netted 16 points, Carson Webb 11 points, Dawson Meade 9 points, Jason Ellis 6 points, Brad Newsome 5 points, Graden McNeil 3 points, A.C Compton and J.B. Walters 2 points each.

 

 

The Lions hit 8 three pointers and went 12 of 20 from the free throw line.

Lawrence Co. will return to action Saturday at Noon against Chesapeake ( OH ) in the Boyd Co. Shootout at Boyd Co. Middle School.

“… Really felt like our kids were focused on the game plan and played their guts out. It’s hard when you see your guys lay it all out there and then come up a little short. Hats off to a very good Boyd County team. It’s really good for our kids to have that battle with such an experienced team. Definitely something we can build off of as a team. Looking forward to seeing this bunch reach their full potential!”
