LOUISA, KY — In their inaugural postseason appearance the Lawrence Co. (11-3) Boys Soccer team beat Belfry 3-0 to capture the 58th District Championship on last night at the LCHS Soccer Complex.

58th District Champion Lawrence Co. Bulldogs

After a scoreless first half the Dawgs would get things going late in the second half. Within a four minute span Luke Johnson scored once and Tyler Maynard scored twice to give the Dawgs some breathing room.

Freshman Trenton Adkins was outstanding in goal for the Bulldogs.

Both teams will advance to the 15th Region tournament which will be played in Prestonsburg next week.

Lawrence Co. Head Coach Scott Johnson

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… It was a nice game for us tonight. Those first 60 minutes were not easy on my nerves though. We have played Belfry similarly all season. The game is very even and then we are able to score in spurts. Our defense was rock solid and didn’t allow them into the game. Trenton Adkins did an amazing job in goal and had his best game of the season.”

“… It will be good competition in both semifinal games no matter who comes out of the 57th.  Prestonsburg could be called the regional favorite but it is wide open.”
