Lawrence Co. Head Coach Travis Feltner

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… I have been doing this a long time and the first round of the District tournament is always the toughest. All the big games that we have played in — from region finals to first round of state tournament– more butterflies are there and coaches are more nervous on that first day. Our boys weren’t uptight or not ready to play, the bottom line was Floyd Central came ready to play and gave us all we wanted for five innings. They pitched it well they caught it well and they hit the ball well.”

“… We had some opportunities early to break it open but never could until the sixth inning, and give Floyd Central credit they pushed us tonight.”

“… We haven’t played Betsy Layne or Prestonsburg in two months so they both are very different than when we saw them early in the year.”

Lawrence Co. Catcher Austin Roe

“… Different atmosphere this time of year no matter who you’re playing against. Whether you beat them in the regular season or not everybody is ready to play in the postseason.”

“… Not just necessarily looking to just put the ball in play, but I knew we needed to get those runs in. Big situation to get our guys going. No matter how you get it done in the first round, a win is a win.”
