Three persons found themselves in jail Friday night as a result of a search warrant at a home in the Mazie community, located on route 32 near the Elliot County Line.

The individuals are currently at the BSRDC.
Lawrence County Constables Paul Wells and Daniel Castle along with Sheriff’s Department deputy Cory Cook executed the search warrant at the residence.
I’m not a pot smoker….never have been nor ever will be, but really? Locking up people for having a little weed in 2019 should be a crime within itself. States that have legalized it have NOT had any increase in crime and there has actually been a decrease because people don’t have to break the law to obtain it! Are chronic pot smokers laid back and unmotivated? Yeah….most of them are, but who cares? They’re harming nobody, and states that allow it to be sold have benefited quite well due to the boost in tax revenue.
You clearly believe EVERYTHING you see/read on the internet and through the media. Any type of extensive research will show you that: 1. The crime rate in states that have legalized marijuana skyrocketed (nearly 700%) in the first year after it was legalized within them, 2. The “tax revenue” that you’re referring to has quite literally been pennies on every dollar from the product sold due to the fact that it’s STILL ILLEGAL in said states under Federal law, so any form of prosperity from pot in these states has been little to none. The fact of the matter is, people think that just because harder drugs are coming up that legalizing the “lesser” drugs is the answer. That mindset is foolish, as are you for thinking that people who are breaking the law shouldn’t be punished for it. Smarten up.
700% increase in crime. Where’d you get that statistic? Marijuana has been around since there was dirt to grow it in. California went medical in 1996 and ZERO people have died from using it. Alcohol, tobacco, pills, over eating is far more deadly, addictive, and dangerous. Get real and actually google some statistics so you can quit making ignorant statements. 700% lol Marijuana should never have been made illegal in the first damn place, reefer madness, alive and well in ignorance flooded LC. Dummy.
Keep buying into your national news stations and bullshit, you’re clearly a pot smoker that’s why you are defending it so heavily. You’ve also possibly been busted with it and are butthurt because of it. Grow up
You have a constipated mind, and you are a liar! Truth my a**. As the other person said, cite your credible links? Both you and I know you don’t have any. I’m 63, and support the full legalization of marijuana (for those 21 and older). It should have been legalized many years ago; the government has wasted billions in taxpayer money for nothing (concerning pot), while they let big pharma destroy lives daily! I’ll bet you support “taking your medicine”, don’t you? You make me sick!
Nice to see there are so many potheads floating around LC. Bottom line is, it’s never gonna be legal in the same way alcohol and cigarettes are, so get over it.
I agree to a point, but I recently read that there has been a big increase in dui arrests in Colorado as a direct result of legalized marijuana sales. I feel, though, that if Alchol is legal, marijuana should be legal as well. I’d rather be around a pothead than a drunk.
Are these the only three officers in this county? Keep up the good work guys! I’m impressed.
Paul Wells and ESPECIALLY Daniel Castle run around pulling anybody and everybody they can over. They have both let this constable thing go to their heads. I don’t think either of them realize they aren’t sworn in police officers of either the city, county, or the state. They need to read up on the job description/responsibilities of a constable. Idk Paul Wells at all. I however do know Daniel extremely well. He actually is a tremendous guy. I’m not questioning that for a second. He is first class. I have never been in trouble in my life, so no I’m not just saying this bc I got pulled over by either of them. I don’t even live in LC I live in the southern part of Johnson, almost Floyd Co. I just find it rather appalling that they both are just glorified Barney Fyffe’s, that must of had a dream to be a cop, but since that didn’t work out they have the tough guy syndrome and they are running around like they are law men of the old west, trying to clean up the town one by one. It’s great that they have helped get more drugs off the streets, and they are working with DICE to help slow down the drug epidemic. But Jesus get a life and quit letting this crap go to your heads. It would be real sad to see one of if not both of these guys get hurt or even killed by putting themselves in a situation in which it takes certified, trained, sworn in law enforcement officers to handle a particular matter and they mishandled the situation. People never cease to amaze me how they are always wanting that level of notoriety and will stop at nothing to get it. It’s people like this that is so insecure with who they really are, they get the big head and want to be something more than they really are!
Editor: Both these men are trained and qualified to be deputies under the law. But the duties of a Constable in Ky. are somewhat constrained. These men are qualified (so is Sonny Mynier, another constable in Lawrence County but is not active in D.I.C.E.) and they should be applauded for the work they are doing.
You know about as much about the KRS, as “Truth” knows about pot! If they pull you over, just tell them! HAHAHA
Looks like the constables are the new law enforcement. Maybe Castle will run for sheriff.
Good job guys and Cory!
