‘CRUISE THE PLAZA’ 2016
Imagine going back in “Louisa” time, when time was simple, and to spend time with your friends, you aren’t using FaceTime. I know it’s a stretch, but that is how I grew up and every generation before. We all met in the “Plaza!” A couple of friends and an idea later, they have been bringing it back.
In the words of Suzanne Pannell-Moore:
“…Living in today’s economy and feeling financially strapped from lack of work, we still need to stop and refresh ourselves. That’s why it is imperative that we enjoy the simpler things that life can offer. Community projects are a very important necessity to keeping our businesses thriving through hard times.
Louisa is my hometown, it’s where my heart is and where my memories remain. Never thought that a comment made on Facebook would lead to building another opportunity for us as a community to come together and reminisce and make new memories.
…Memories of the 70s, 80s, 90s. A simpler time of throwing some gas in our cars and cruising our small hometown, and that we did, until the early morning hours. We came together in the plaza to socialize when all the technologies of today were only a dream. Hence, the opportunity came to relive those moments and share them with our children and let them see that there were fun times before computers, cell phones and electronic games…
Thanks to David ‘Chico’ Prince who pushed my comment of..is anyone gonna cruise the plaza tonight?…into a reality. I never thought we would draw such interest but it did and so even though life has taken lots of my time this year I knew it was so important to do this at least once for 2016. So I encourage all of you to come out and support us September 3rd in the Louisa Plaza at 5pm.
Classic car and Hot Rod owners can come line up at 4pm to give all of us car enthusiasts a peep at your passion and ours. We will be having open Mic Karaoke for those who would love to join. A sign up sheet will be under the karaoke tent. People are more than welcome to bring chairs and canopy tents and set up and spend the evening with us. Hope to see everyone there and let’s Cruise the night away!”
…If you have any questions about the event you can find us on Facebook. Cruise the Plaza II. Please join and add members to get updates or changes or leave messages. Can’t wait to see you all there! Please if you can afford to donate please drop off a donation at Louisa Community Bank for Cruise the Plaza! Let’s burn up the night.
