COUNCIL APPROVES NEARLY $5 MILLION BUDGET FOR COMING YEAR

$4.84 million total includes utilities

LOUISA, KY. — The regular June meeting of the Louisa City Council was called to order Tuesday, June 12th at 7pm at Louisa City Hall. Mayor Harold Slone, Council members Mitch Castle, Matt Brown, Tom Parsons, and John Nolan were in attendance with council woman Lisa Schaffer arriving during the meeting, as she was held over at work. Mayor Slone called the meeting to order and begin with some comments and announcements.

Slone updated council on current projects, specifically:

*  the sidewalk upgrades on Main Cross Street,

*  playground equipment purchased with proceeds from last year’s ‘Hoops for Hope’ basketball tournament being installed at Lockview Park, and

*  status of the Lock Avenue sanitary sewer and storm drain progress that had been discussed at the Utilities Board meeting the week before. (SEE LAZER STORY)

Louisa mayor Harold Slone presents a certificate of Appreciation to a member of the Albertville First Baptist Church group that will be doing outreach in the area next week.The Mayor then presented members from Albertville First Baptist Church with a certificate of appreciation.

The church youth group and leaders are spending the week in Louisa doing outreach for children in the community. They will be at the pool on Friday June 15th to give away Sno-kones and present a puppet and magic show for the children as well as paying for 50 children admissions.

 

The meeting then continued with old business as follows:

*  Approved second reading of Ordinance 2018-01, establishing the annual budget for the City of Louisa for fiscal year July 1, 2018 – June 30th, 2019. Adopted budget is $1,907,100.00 in revenues and $1,901,582.45 appropriations. Motion was Unanimous.

*  Approved second reading of Ordinance 2018-02, establishing the annual budget for Louisa Public Utilities, for the fiscal year July 1, 2018-June 30th, 2019. Adopted budget is $2,930,738. in revenues  and $2,217,616.00 appropriations with $713,122.00 debt service. Motion was Unanimous.

*  Approved agreement with Summit Engineering for the design, permitting, and construction inspection for the REDISCOVER LOUISA RIVERWALK PROJECT. Agreement is contingent on KYTC funding from previous awarded TAP grant funding at a total cost of $82,950.

New business was as follows;

*  Appointed Kim Burchett to county Board of Assessments.

*  Appointed Mayor Slone as FEMA applicant agent as the city is seeking funding reimbursement from FEMA for damages done to the waste water pumping station during the spring flooding.

*  Visitors to the meeting were Rick Loperfido with FIVCO ADD and Mike Hill, engineer with Summit Engineering.

 

With no further business meeting was adjourned.
