NEW CITY BUDGET NEARS $2 MILLION, UTILITIES $3 MILLION
Louisa city Council meeting Tuesday, May 8, 2018
The Louisa city Council met for their regular meeting on May 8, 2018 those in attendance were Mayor Harold Slone, Ronald Cordle Council, Matt Brown Council , Tom Parsons Council, John Nolan Council and Eldred Adams Jr. Attorney. Absent were Mitch Castle and Lisa Schaefer, Council Members.
The mayor updated the Council on several projects including:
…The tree project in Louisa made possible by a Rotary Grant is almost complete with four of the seven trees being replaced and concrete poured.
…the two new cruisers for the police department should be in and ready to use by next week even if they aren’t marked.
…The third project he reviewed was the Riverwalk project. A kick off will soon be scheduled.
The meeting continued:
* Motion by Ron Cordle second by Matt Brown to approve the minutes from meeting April 10, 2018
* Motion by John Nolan, second by Ron Cordle to approve Summit Engineering for the Riverwalk project pending review from Eldred Adams. No total cost was mentioned.
* Motion by Ron Cordle, second by Tom Parsons to approve the agreement for Municipal Road Aid.
* Motion by Matt Brown, second by Ron Cordle to approve the first reading of an ordinance establishing the annual budget for the fiscal year 2018 through June 30, 2019 for the city of Louisa Kentucky.
The total estimated revenues for the city are $1,907,100 and appropriation of 1,901,582.45.
* Motion by John Nolan, second by Ron Cordle to approve the first reading of an ordinance establishing the budget for the Louisa Utilities Board. The expected revenue for the year will be $2,930,738 with a budgeted expense of $2,217,616. “If there are no new big emergency expenditures this year we should see an increase in water revenue and in sanitation services, also alcohol sales are rising,” Mayor Slone said.
* Motion by Ron Cordle, second by John Nolan to approve the resolution for Bulldog Lane. According to the Ky Department of Highways this is a city street. Monies have been set aside by the Dept. for the paving of the street.
No one could remember when it became a city street. If you know please contact the Mayor.
In new business:
Police Chief Greg Fugitt said his department is trying to open a satellite police office located at Bird Hayes Manor.
“The Housing Authority overwhelmingly voted ‘yes’ on it,” Fugitt said. “This would increase the safety of their residents and the community.”
Fugitt also reminded the community that the Louisa Police Department SUMMER SAFETY FEST would be occurring June 2 at Main St., Park from 2 to 4 PM.
The meeting was then adjourned to executive session to discuss a possible sale of property. There was no action taken.
