Lawrence County Sheriff Chuck Jackson got a call Christmas day and it wasn’t from Santa Claus, quite the opposite.
The call, which came from Little Blaine Creek, was concerning a vehicle parked along the road near a residence that shouldn’t have been there and when he arrived he learned that James David Moore, 36, had apparently taken property from the residence and he and deputy J. Kirk went to Moore’s home to recover it.
The theft took place at 403 Spencer Branch Road.
After reading Moore his Miranda rights, Sheriff Jackson learned from Moore that he had indeed taken property from the residence after breaking into to the house–twice.
Moore admitted taking property worth more than $500 and showed Jackson where it was at his residence. Items including a deep freezer, a microwave and various other household items were found.
“He also said he had tried to get the family’s vehicle out of their garage but wasn’t able to get it open,” Sheriff Jackson said in his written description of the arrest.
Moore was taken to the Big Sandy Detention Center and charged with Burglary in the 2nd degree by Jackson and deputy J. Kirk.
