Charles Hubert Sparks

1931 – 2016

Charles Hubert Sparks, 85, of Fort Gay, WV passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Cornerstone Hospital in Huntington, WV.

Charles was born March 29, 1931 in Grassy, WV a son of the late John Wallace and Mary Porter Sparks. Charles was a retired United States Navy and Air Force Tech. Sergeant, a member of VFW post #93 and a member of  Fort Gay Church of God. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorene Copley Sparks who past away in 1992; and son, David Lee Sparks.

Charles leaves behind his loving wife of 13 years, Glenna Sword Preston Sparks of Fort Gay, WV; son, Gregory Alan (Sue Ann) Sparks of Loganville, GA.; step daughter, Peggy Adkins of Charleston, WV.; stepson, Tim (JoAnn) Preston of Fort Gay, WV.; stepdaughters, Cheryl (Gary) Porter of Radnor, WV.; Diana (Danny) Frasher of Louisa, Ky.; Angela (Rodney) Stroud of Fort Gay, WV;  7 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Preston and Pastor Randy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Lynch Cemetery, Fort Gay, WV.

Visitation will be 6:00 until 9:00 PM Monday at Young Funeral Home Chapel.
