Cecil says he is ‘excited, honored and humbled’ to lead LMS

New LMS principal Joey Cecil

LOUISA, Ky. — LCHS vice-principal and recently resigned Bulldog Football coach, Joey Cecil was chosen by the LMS site based decision making council Friday evening to become principal of the school after the resignation of long time head man Tommy Castle.

Cecil, 46, is no stranger to LMS having served as vice-principal from 2006 to 2014 before moving to LCHS for two years. He was one of 15 applicants considered for the position when Castle, who had the job for ten years, abruptly designed and accepted a new Alternative School position in the school district nearly two months ago.

Cecil previously served as an Algebra, Geometry, and Chemistry teacher at LCHS from 2001-2006. Before that he taught the same subjects at East Carter High school for six years and then at Russell High School for two years before coming to Lawrence County.

“I would like to thank the LMS site based council and Dr. Fletcher for trusting me with this opportunity,” Cecil said. “I am excited, honored and humbled to lead Louisa Middle.”

“To all students, parents, staff and community members, I promise to serve you to the best of my ability. Go LMS Dawgs, Where Learning Means Success and Character Counts Everyday.”
