Cecil Ray Dawson, 73, of Fort Gay, WV went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Three Rivers Medical Center.

Cecil was born March 13, 1946 in Fort Gay, WV to the late Taylor Zacariah and Alta Mary (Robertson) Dawson.  He was also preceded in death by two brothers Taylor Dawson Jr and David Dawson three sisters Dorothy Hill, Billie Cyrus, and Hattie Lemaster.

Survivors include three daughters Kim Doss, Tina Presley(Jake), and Heidi May(Jeffrey); one son Zeke Dawson(Amanda); seven grandchildren Heather Presley, Dawson Presley, Jordan Presley, Luke Presley, Logan Presley, Dylan Dawson, and Gage Dawson. Five great grandchildren Kalynn, Hattie, Baylor, Raegan, and Rayah. Cecil leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; many of which were like his brothers and sisters. He also leaves behind many special friends, including his life long best friend, TD Cyrus-a friend that was closer to him than a brother and stayed at his side throughout his life.

Cecil was a member of the Oak Grove Church where he attended faithfully. He was a member of Vinson Masonic Lodge #66. Cecil worked 15 years for Eerie Lackawanna Railways, then owned and operated Dawson Pennzoil station for 30 years. He graduated from Fort Gay High School in 1964.

Cecil always had a love for farming and tending to his cattle and rabbits. He was also a big fan of watching Gonzaga basketball, but a much bigger fan to watching his grandchildren, as they were the light of his life.  His laughter and smile will remain as precious memories to all those whom loved him.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 29, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Oak Grove Church with Brother Mack Ray Cyrus, Brother Frank Copley and Brother Casey Cyrus officiating. Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery.

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, December 28, 2019 after 3:00 PM at Oak Grove Church.

Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Dawson and his family.

I would like to extend my condonlences to Cecils family. He was always a good guy and was always friendly and easy to deal with. It’s been a long time since he ran that garage in Fort Gay, but to this day i still think of it as “Cecils Pennzoil station” everytime i drive past there.
