CARTER SAYS HE’LL PLACE FOCUS ‘LIKE A LASER BEAM’ ON JOBS FOR LAWRENCE COUNTY

Former judge/executive vows to work to recruit call center into county

LOUISA, Ky. — As voters go to the polls in Tuesday’s primary election for county offices, former County Judge/Executive Phil Carter, a Republican candidate this year, says he is ready to place a focus on jobs for Lawrence County.

“I’m ready to focus like a lazer-beam on bringing jobs into Lawrence County.” Carter said.

“God has abundantly blessed us with so many advantages here including easy access to Interstate 64, plenty of good land, and a great workforce, but we must have leadership that is worthy of our people,” said Carter.

Carter vowed to work to recruit a customer service call center to Lawrence County, similar to one that Congressman Hal Rogers helped bring to Somerset-Pulaski County in 2015.

Upon the Somerset call center’s opening in 2015, Congressman Rogers said at the time, “We are thrilled that EOS USA is investing in our region and instilling confidence in our workforce to meet the needs for these tech-based jobs. With the implementation of high-speed, high-capacity broadband coming to our region, southern and eastern Kentucky will soon be able to accommodate any high-tech business in the county of their choice.”

The company that chose to locate in Somerset, Collecto Inc., doing business as EOS USA, provides accounts-receivable management and business-process outsourcing services. The company invested nearly $4 million in the project.

EOS established its call center in Somerset, leasing a 20,000-square-foot facility in the Valley Oak Technology Complex. The company chose Somerset for its economical operating costs and skilled workforce.

Carter said that he was confident that new leadership could mean new jobs for Lawrence County.

“What our county needs is experienced leadership with a real vision for Lawrence County, and that’s what I hope to bring to the job with the voters’ approval in 2018,” Carter said.

“My vision for Lawrence County is one of good roads, good jobs, and real opportunities for our people,” he said.

The lone star tick is an aggressive tick species and should not be taken lightly by hunters and others who enjoy spending time outdoors. There is mounting evidence its bite can cause some people to develop an allergy to red meat.
