DOMESTIC ULTRA-VIOLENT MAN: TRISTAN G. MITCHELL, 27, OF OLIVE HILL, KY., IN CARTER COUNTY DETENTION CENTER IN GRAYSON, KY. SINCE HIS ARREST ON OCTOBER 6.

A Carter County, Kentucky man is facing multiple serious charges after a domestic violence incident on Friday night, October 6.

Tristan G. Mitchell, 27, of Olive Hill, KY., was arrested and lodged into the Carter County Detention Center in Grayson, KY., after a response to a domestic violence call resulted in ten (10), mostly violent charges, which included kidnapping, child abuse, sodomy and domestic violence assault.

According to the arrest report on Tristan Mitchell, deputies with the Carter County Sheriff Office responded to a home off State Highway 986 after a victim said an altercation occurred over a cell phone.

According to the case’s victim in the court documents, Tristan Mitchell threw her phone against the wall, then grabbed her by the hair and repeatedly punched her in the head.

The arresting deputy wrote Tristan Mitchell “stopped beating the victim and forced her against her will to perform oral sex on him while he berated her verbally; (and) punched her in the head.”

During the assault, Tristan Mitchell threatened to shoot the victim, according to court documents.

The victim further alleged she attempted to run from the home with her infant child for safety, causing Tristan Mitchell, still unclothed from the earlier assault; to grab the baby from the victim and, per the citation, “dragged the child through the grass” resulting in multiple bruises on the 1-year-old infant child.

The deputy noted grass stains were also present on the infant’s clothing.

Before the deputies’ arrival, Tristan Mitchell again grabbed the victim by the hair and resumed beating her head and face, causing “serious physical injury to both eye sockets,” the deputy noted.

According to the arrest report and court documents, the victim’s eyes were “rapidly swelling.”

Tristan Mitchell is accused of cleaning the home, concealing a hole in the wall and throwing away the victim’s phone case and shoes in an effort to conceal signs of the altercation.

However, deputies reported they uncovered the victim’s phone, its case, the hole in the wall and one of the victim’s acrylic fingernails.

During the initial phase of the deputies investigation, Tristan Mitchell was charged with: second-degree domestic violence assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree domestic violence sodomy resulting in serious physical injury, fourth-degree child abuse, intimidating a legal participant, tampering with physical evidence, and first-degree strangulation.

Deputies met with the victim receiving treatment at a hospital for further interview, resulting in additional charges of kidnapping a minor and unlawful imprisonment.

Tristan Mitchell was arraigned in Carter County District Court on Wednesday, October 11, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for the following week to determine if his case will be presented to a grand jury for indictment.

According to online arrest jail booking records, Tristan Mitchell was previously arrested for assault, terroristic threatening and wanton endangerment in January 9 of this year. Tristan Mitchell also now faces an added Failure To Appear  charge from that case after his current arrest.

If convicted just on the kidnapping charge of sodomy charge (or both), Tristan Mitchell faces decades in prison.
