CAREER TRAINING PROGRAM FOR WOMEN RECRUITING FOR SUMMER CLASS

Huntington, WV – 4/5/2018 — The Step Up for Women Program of Huntington is looking for women who want to change their lives. The ten-week long training program prepares women for careers in the manufacturing field.

Recent graduates are now working in the tri-state area making an average of $12/hour.

WV Women Work Summer 2018

Step Up is open to all women who can travel to take the classes in Huntington. The students learn hands-on manufacturing skills on manual lathes and mills, CNC lathes and mills, measurement and inspection tools, blueprint reading, and shop math. They also study general employment skills like resume writing and job hunting.

WV Women Work Summer 2018The average student is between 25 and 50 years old. Many have children. Some have recently completed their GED while others hold four-year degrees. Anyone interested in applying for the program should call Melinda at (304) 528-9991 or go online to wvwomenwork.org/stepupamp.

This program is run by West Virginia Women Work, a 501c3 nonprofit, in partnership with the Robert C. Byrd Institute.
