Louisa, Ky. —  For the second time this season Greenup Co. ( 8-4 ) defeated Lawrence Co. ( 9-3 ) — this time 28-7 in the second round of the playoffs at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Stadium Friday night.

Greenup Co. scored the first 14 points of the game as Ike Henderson went in from 1 yard out and Tyson Sammons went in from 7 yards out and the Bulldogs trailed 14-0 with 6:13 left in the first half.

LC’s Cody Crum finds the end zone right before halftime versus Greenup Co.

Cody Crum put the Bulldogs on the board with a 4 yard touchdown run and Logan Southers tacked on the extra point with :53 left in the first half.

Lawrence Co. had a Ryan Marcum touchdown wiped off the scoreboard on a questionable holding call.

#9 Eli Fletcher, #22 Jake Derifield and #35 Cody Crum tackle Tyson Sammons of the Musketeers.

The score was still 14-7 Musketeers going to the final period before Greenup Co. went on a 9 minute drive and Sammons plunged in the end zone with 2:35 left in the game to make it 21-7.

On the ensuing kickoff Lawrence Co. fumbled the return and Henderson scored from 4 yards out to end the Bulldogs season 28-7.

All-State candidate Dylan Ferguson had 54 yards rushing but got hurt in the first half and didn’t return to the ballgame.

The Musketeers will travel to Mason Co. next Friday and play for a Region Championship.

The Dawgs will regroup and return a good chunk of players for next season plus a good Middle school team that  is playing for a state championship on Saturday.
