Gillispie excelled on both sides of the ball past season and also took a few snaps at Quarterback.

He caught 32 passes for 401 yards and hauled in three touchdowns, rushed for 101 yards and scored three times, he went 1-1 passing for 22 yards.

On defense he recovered three fumbles and scored one touchdown, picked off two passes and returned one for a touchdown.

Gillispie suffered a season ending injury early in game number nine at Floyd Central.

Centre College is located in Danville Kentucky and plays in the Southern Athletic Conference and went 6-4 in 2022.

PLAYER’S COMMENTS

“… The coaching staff was very welcoming, knowledgeable, and easy to connect with. Centre is a great academic school with a beautiful campus and lots of opportunities. Coach Fox came to meet with me personally a couple of times and we built a connection which ultimately led me to make my decision.”

“… It was great playing for Coach Short and LC football. This community is special and the support this year was great. Coach Short did a great job leading us to some big wins this year like a win over Belfry. He’s a good coach but an even better guy. He was a pleasure to have as a coach and I’ll miss being apart of LC football.”

“… I think that will help me in many ways at the next level. The experience from playing on both sides of the ball and multiple positions is a huge advantage. It helps you understand coverages, mannerisms, and much more about the defense and offense. As for basketball many things transfer over like going up high to get a ball, quick moves to get past the defender, and many other movements that transfer over to the football field. Playing multiple sports my whole life has made me better at football for a vast majority of reasons.”

“ I’d like to thank god, my parents, my family, all of my coaches, teammates, friends, supporters, trainers, and everyone at Centre College for giving me this amazing opportunity!”

Lawrence Co. Head Coach Alan Short

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… Our football program is very proud of Kaden. Today’s signing ceremony did not happen by accident. The ceremony today is a reflection of all the hard work, sacrifices, and efforts put forth over time by Kaden and his family. He has been a model student-athlete during his time at LCHS. As much as he excels in athletics, he is equally impressive in the classroom.”

“… Signing with Centre College is a great opportunity for Kaden and his family. Early in the recruiting process myself and Kaden’s family were very impressed with Coach Fox and Coach Fry. College destination decisions are not 4 year decisions, they are 40 year decisions. Kaden has hit a home run in choosing Centre College. We expect him to excel as a Centre College Colonel.”

“…It is very rewarding as a Coach to see good things like this happen to good people. We will certainly miss Kaden as a member of our program, but look forward to watching and following his career at Centre.”
