Lawrence County places five on Coach’s Association All Region teams

Pikeville, Ky. —  When your team goes 29-5 and you make it to Rupp Arena for the first time in school history your team will get rewarded for an unforgettable 2015-2016 season. The Dawgs were well represented on the first ever 15th region coaches association all region team. 

The team was announced at a banquet on Sunday afternoon at Pikeville University each member received a plaque and certificate from senator Johnny Ray Turner. 

Lawrence Co. had the 15th region player of the year, the 15th region Co coach of the year, they also had three member on the first team, plus one member on the honorable mention so all five starters were mentioned during the banquet. 

15th Region player of the year voted on by the coaches was.

Lawrence Co. Senior Robert Dalton

He averaged 17.7 ppg and 7.5 rpg

Scored 2018 points and 713 rebounds in is career

Named all tournament team for the 60th district and 15th region team in 2016

2 time all area by the Ashland Daily

Is the all time leading scorer at Lawrence Co. and first player in school history to reach 2,000 points

Helped lead his team to back to back 60th district titles, first ever 15th region title and first trip to Rupp Arena in school history 

Brandon RichardsonLawrence Co. Senior Brandon Richardson. ( All region team )

Finished his career with 13.6 ppg and 5.2 rpg

Scored 1940 points and 813 rebounds in his career 

Was named all tournament team in the 60th district and 15th region 2016

Is currently the 2nd all time leading scorer and all time leader in 3 points fg’s made at Lawrence Co. 

Helped lead his team to back to back 60th district titles, first ever 15th region title and first trip to Rupp Arena in school history 

 

Austin ChaffinsLawrence Co. Senior Austin Chaffins

Had a career average of 15.2 ppg 4.7 rpg and 4.0 app

Had 1680 points and 568 rebounds in his career 

Was named 60th district and 15th region all tournament team in 2016, 60th district tournament MVP and first team all area by the Ashland Daily

All time leader in assists at Lawrence Co.

Helped lead his team to back to back 60th district titles, first ever 15th region title and first trip to Rupp Arena in school history 

 

 

 

 

Timmy DaltonLawrence Co. Junior Timmy Dalton

Career averages of 17.6 ppg 6.0 rpg and 3.5 apg thus far

Has 1937 points and 687 rebounds he is on pace to be the all time leading scorer in school history ( he is currently third on the list ) 

Was named all tournament team in the 60th district and was the 15th region tournament MVP in 2016 was named all area player of the year in 2016 by the Ashland Daily

Helped lead his team to back to back 60th district titles first ever 15th region title and a trip to Rupp Arena for the first time in school history 

Grant Kiser Lawrence Co. Senior Grant Kiser was named 15th region honorable mention in 2016. 

He scored over 1,200 points in his career and made the 60th district and 15th region all tournament teams

He helped lead his team to back to back 60th district titles, first ever 15th region title and first ever trip to Rupp Arena

“… Feels really good to be on the first ever 15th region team plus I’m a senior so this will be the only time for me so it is really special,”  It was really tough right after we lost at Rupp Arena we just set in silence and really just thought about what an achievement it was for our team to finish on that floor in that setting at was really something, wish we could have went further but it wasn’t meant to be.” I loved every minute of my basketball career I wouldn’t change a thing.”

“… Really an honor to be on the first ever team, a lot of great players have played in the 15th region and I don’t think it gets enough credit around the state.” Our team had a great season and to finish at Rupp Arena like we set out to do was really something.” Going to miss playing with all of those guys.”
