LAWRENCE COUNTY – Dec. 5, 2019 – Walbridge on KY 644 in Lawrence County (mile point 1.513) will be closed Monday through Thursday next week, December 9-12.

Bridge inspectors will climb the one-lane bridge to determine what rehab options are available. “We realize this will be an inconvenience for people who use the bridge every day,” said Highway District 12 Bridge Engineer Chris Allen, “and we apologize for that. However, this bridge is scheduled to be either rehabilitated or maybe replaced, and this thorough inspection is necessary to determine what the options are.”

Walbridge is included in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Bridging Kentucky program.

The goal of Bridging Kentucky, launched in mid-2018, is to replace or restore/rehabilitate more than 1,000 county and state-owned bridges throughout the Commonwealth before the end of 2024.

Additional information about Bridging Kentucky is available on the program’s website: http://www.BridgingKentucky.com , which provides an overview, a list of frequently asked questions, and the full list of bridges that will be addressed. Additional updates are shared on social media sites: facebook.com/Bridging Kentucky, twitter.com/BridgingKY, and Instagram.com/BridgingKY.
