ASHLAND, Ky. (March 24, 2023) –On February 14, 2023, The Kentucky State Police, Post 14 was contacted by Boyd County 911 in reference to an unresponsive juvenile located at 1596 Greentree Court Lot #22.  Upon arrival it was determined that a 2 year old child was found unresponsive and a resident at the location called 911.

Boyd County EMS transported the juvenile to Kings Daughters Medical Center and shortly after arrival the juvenile was pronounced deceased.  Further investigation revealed the juvenile died due to the ingestion of fentanyl.

Analysis of the evidence collected during the execution of the search warrant revealed the presence of fentanyl in the room where the child was found unresponsive.

Brittany Copodonna was indicted by the Boyd County Grand Jury on March 21, 2023 and taken into custody without incident on March 23, 2023.  Ms. Copodonna was transported to the Boyd County Detention Center and charged with

Manslaughter 1st Degree,

Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree and

Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Cocaine).

The case remains under investigation by Det. Lawson.  The Kentucky State Police was assisted by Cannonsburg Fire Department, Boyd County Sheriffs Department, Boyd County EMS and Boyd County Coroner.
